If you like scary horror movies, then you’re in luck. August is serving up some great selections for horror lovers.

Netflix and HBO Max have both added horror movies that were in theaters earlier this year, both of which may play even better at home.

Not to be outdone, Hulu has lined up one of the best horror remakes we’ve ever seen.

These films are Watch With Us‘ picks for the three must-watch horror movies that you need to stream in August. And you may want to keep the lights on for these flicks.

Horror movies may tend to congregate in the fall around October, but scary flicks are always in season. This week, I Know What You Did Last Summer is reviving the classic horror franchise with a sequel that doubles as a remake. It’s too soon to say how that flick will compare with the best summer […]

    ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ (2025)

The late Tony Todd got one last chance to explain death’s design in the legacy sequel Final Destination Bloodlines. Todd’s William Bludworth is the only connection between this film and the five that came before it, so it’s more of a thematic sequel than a direct continuation. Nearly six decades ago, Iris Campbell (Brec Bassinger) had a vision that saved several people from a collapsing building.

In the present, Iris (Gabrielle Rose) is dying and her granddaughter, Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), has inherited her prophetic visions. None of Iris’ descendants were meant to exist, and once she passes, Stefani and her extended family are all next in line to die unless she can find a way to disrupt their collective fate.

Final Destination Bloodlines is streaming on HBO Max.

    ‘Until Dawn’ (2025)

The time loop shenanigans of Groundhog Day have been mixed with horror trappings before, most notably in Happy Death Day. Until Dawn plays with the same idea, even though it wasn’t present in the video game that shares the movie’s title. Clover (Ella Rubin), Max (Michael Cimino), Nina (Odessa A’zion), Megan (Ji-young Yoo) and Abe (Belmont Cameli) have all come together after the disappearance of Clover’s older sister, Melanie (Maia Mitchell), only to be murdered themselves.

That starts a deadly time loop for Clover and her friends that pits them against a different threat in every cycle. Nothing stays the same in each loop, and the only way to break free is to live through the night.

Until Dawn is streaming on Netflix.

    ‘Evil Dead’ (2013)

Before he directed Alien: Romulus, Fede Álvarez helmed the 2013 remake of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead. If you’ve only seen Army of Darkness or Ash vs. Evil Dead, then you may not be prepared for how hard Álvarez goes in this film. This isn’t a horror comedy, and it’s unexpectedly intense.

Jane Levy earns her scream queen stripes as Mia Allen, a young woman who agrees to accompany her brother, David Allen (Shiloh Fernandez), and their friends to a cabin in the woods while she attempts to break her heroin addiction. When the friends accidentally awaken a malevolent force, Mia is the first to fall prey to a demonic possession. And she won’t be the last…

Evil Dead is streaming on Hulu.
