A Texas mother is behind bars, accused of abusing her son by forcing him to undergo unneeded medical procedures, despite being healthy.

An arrest warrant viewed by Us Weekly alleges Kaitlyn Rose Laura of Glen Rose forced her boy to live with a feeding tube and get around using a wheelchair, which he did not need.

Laura, 30, also made the child take medications he did not need.

Laura was arrested late last month by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and charged with causing serious bodily injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judge has barred her from contacting her son if she posts her bond. She also must refrain from having contact with anyone 17 and under.

A mother in Louisiana has been arrested after she failed to bring her child to post-op appointments after he underwent brain surgery. The Shreveport Police Department said that officers received a tip about a welfare concern involving a young child on Monday, March 9, according to KSLA. The report was initially made by a Louisiana […]

Police were contacted in February by a person who alleged Laura lied about her son’s medical history to obtain the surgery to attach the unnecessary feeding tube in June 2025.

When Laura tried leaving Children’s Medical Center Dallas with her son in February, against doctors’ advice, she was flagged for possible abuse. Speaking to investigators, Laura claimed her son was unable to eat by mouth and that he essentially lived in a posey bed, a tent‑like enclosure opened only from the outside.

Once the boy was away from his mother, police said he started eating normal foods and was walking on his own.

Investigators looked into Laura’s social media activity and found links to online fundraisers that documented her son’s alleged medical issues.

Police said they spoke to medical professionals who said the mother’s false claims regarding her son’s health began not long after his birth in August 2022. Laura is alleged to have told doctors she had a difficult delivery, and that her son may have lost oxygen to his brain during birth. The unnamed boy needed gabapentin, an appetite stimulant, in order to consume solid foods.

A North Carolina woman who stands accused of killing one of her young children and trying to kill her other child is facing murder charges, according to authorities. Andrea Morgan Faust, 41, of Durham, was arrested on Friday, February 13, on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, court records viewed by Us Weekly […]

She also allegedly claimed in late May 2025 that her son had cerebral palsy, autism, a mitochondrial disorder, and developmental delays. She requested the posey bed, citing his “leg kicking” which caused damage to three cribs.

She pushed over months for the feeding tube, cops said, telling them she had to hold her son down to feed him and give him medications.

Cops learned that whenever the boy was not around Laura, he was able to eat a variety of foods and gain weight, which she said was an ongoing concern.

“The medical abuse of a child is a horrific crime,” Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said in a statement. “These cases are often complex and challenging to investigate, which can lead to them being overlooked within the criminal justice system. We remain committed to ensuring every report is taken seriously and every child receives the protection they deserve”.

Waybourn said anyone who donated to Laura’s three GoFundMe campaigns or may have exchanged messages with her regarding the health of her children should contact his office’s Criminal Investigation Division at (817) 884-1305.

By all accounts, Laura could be suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which is now known as factitious disorder imposed on another. It is a rare mental illness in a caregiver who invents or exaggerates an illness in a person under their care for attention and sympathy.
