Gervonta Davis is in talks for a comeback fight, this time against a former world champion who has shared the ring with Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko.
The 31-year-old has not fought since March 2025, when he was mightily fortunate to escape with a majority draw after Lamont Roach was denied a ninth-round knockdown.
As a result, Davis retained his WBA lightweight title and was set to rematch Roach, only to instead arrange an exhibition match with Jake Paul.
Neither opportunity transpired, however, as ‘Tank’ was charged with domestic violence and has remained out of the ring ever since.
But while the future of his career remains somewhat uncertain, Davis is now being linked to a potential clash with George Kambosos Jr, who most notably dethroned Lopez with a split decision victory in 2021.
In doing so, the Australian caused a major upset and became the undisputed lightweight king – or was at least widely recognised as such – only to then suffer back-to-back points defeats against Haney.
As for a possible clash with Davis, Kambosos has taken to social media and responded to an account – which is linked to the American – confirming that the teams are ‘talking’ but questioned the need for a rehydration clause.
“Actually the complete opposite … you guys be calling more than the IRS, the same ones that’s been calling you to pay them taxes back.
“Habitual liar behind a fake account. Listen, mate, teams are talking, I fear none, just stop with the rehydration clauses [for f**k sake]. A fight’s a fight!!! Dog fight, no problem.”

Kambosos has not fought since his eighth-round stoppage defeat to Richardson Hitchins in June 2025, which saw the 33-year-old enter his second outing at 140lbs.
