The Seattle Kraken have some young centers and are looking for a scoring winger
TSN: Seattle Kraken GM Jason Botterill continues to look to add to his roster, and has been looking for a scoring winger since the offseason, according to Darren Dreger.
“At that point, I was told that, look, ‘We’d like to add a top-line scoring winger.’ Well, that’s a lot to ask. And that’s a pretty big piece to try and land. But that search continues. They’re not afraid of making a splash if the right player is made available. And Gino, when you look at centre ice in Seattle, you see these big, good, young names. So those are the pieces that Jason Botterill, I believe, I’m told by NHL sources, is willing to consider as part of that trade bait.”
TSN: The Seattle Kraken are willing to move one of their young centers and are looking for a scoring, top-line winger.
NHL Rumors: Rasmus Ristolainen, Patrik Laine, and Will There be More Offer Sheets?
“Shane Wright’s name has been out there for several months and is still out there, there’s no doubt about that, his camp has been trying to find a move dating back to last January.
Seattle is willing to move a centreman but they need a top-line winger in return, so the hunt for Jason Botterill and the Kraken continues.”
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having to deal with their salary cap situation for next season already
TSN: The Toronto Maple Leafs will have some challenges if they want to add to their roster given their salary cap situation for next season, according to Chris Johnston. They have about $647,000 in projected salary cap space for next season. They basically can’t add anyone that has term left on their contract unless almost equal future money is going out.
“It also means they can’t call up someone on a two-way deal with term, a player like Ben Danford, for example, at this stage of the season because the cap number that would be assigned to him is too high. To be fair, the Leafs have said – and Chayka’s been very clear – he wants to keep Danford down in the AHL.
NHL Rumors: Lehkonen, Edvinsson, Predators, and the Sharks
And he tells me that this has not caused any issues, hasn’t blocked them from doing anything that they want to do. But certainly as this season goes along it’s something that they’re going to have to navigate.”
