Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Max are great streaming platforms — but they all come with a hefty price tag. If you’re trying to “cut the cord” by using streaming as your main entertainment resource, you’re not saving much by paying for every streamer under the sun.

But there are some underrated streaming platforms like Pluto, Tubi and Roku that will let you watch movies for free. (Usually with ads, but most of the streamers have those too nowadays.)

This weekend, check out these free offerings from Pluto, Tubi, and Roku.

‘The Cabin in the Woods’ (2011)

Five friends (Chris Hemsworth, Jesse Williams, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, and Kristen Connolly) head to a remote cabin for a weekend of fun and frivolity. But the cabin is hiding dark and murderous secrets. Sound familiar?

This horror comedy is a clever twist on the slasher genre, calling out the tropes that scary movies have leaned on for decades. The comedy lineup on HBO and Max is a film lover’s delight because its library of movies goes back decades into the past. Most of the other streamers don’t have many movies made before 1980. That’s why it’s so refreshing to have the option to go back even further. Watch With Us’ selections for the […]

“Bring us a shrubbery!,” “She turned me into a newt!” and “‘Tis but a scratch!” are just a few of the endlessly quotable lines from this movie that will stick with you forever once you watch it. British comedy troupe Monty Python (And Now For Something Completely Different, Monty Python’s Flying Circus) puts their own hilarious spin on the story of King Arthur (Graham Chapman) and his quest for the Holy Grail. As Arthur gathers his Knights of the Round Table and seeks the Grail, he encounters viciously rude Frenchmen, the irritating Knights Who Say “Ni!” and a peculiarly bloodthirsty rabbit.

Widely considered one of the greatest comedies of all time, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is simply unmissable. Here’s a tip: don’t skip the opening credits — and keep an eye out for aggressive moose.

Blume’s book became synonymous with teenage girlhood for a reason, and that’s because the story is moving and funny. Despite its 1970 setting, Are You There God? is relatable to anyone who can understand the trials of puberty.
