Derek Chisora tells Moses Itauma to avoid one heavyweight: “He’ll smoke you”

Derek Chisora has urged Moses Itauma to avoid stepping into the ring with one man in particular.

Itauma is viewed as one of the brightest talents in the entire sport, blasting through all comers to date to earn an unbeaten 13-0 record, 11 of those victories coming by knockout.

His last outing saw him claim a first round knockout win over Dillian Whyte, and he’ll return in March to take on Jermaine Franklin, with the bout having been postponed from its original January date due to an Itauma injury.

A win over Franklin could propel the 21-year-old towards world honours, but domestic rival Chisora feels it could still be far too soon for Itauma.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, he emphatically warned that Itauma would come unstuck were he to face the current heavyweight king.

“Usyk will blow the smoke out of him. Usyk will kill him.”

Usyk is a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, defeating Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois on two occasions each, whilst also defeating Chisora early into his heavyweight tenure.

Usyk did look like he would return to action against former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, but ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is instead set to know take on Chisora himself in April.

Chisora will be looking to continue his fine run of form in the bout, having claimed wins over Otto Wallin, Joe Joyce and Gerald Washington in his last three contests, while Wilder ended a run of four defeats in five fights by beating Tyrrell Herndon back in June.
