The Morning Show hits a little too close to home for some real-life TV hosts.

“It feels honest and truthful and authentic,” Karen Pittman, who plays Mia Jordan in the Apple TV series, exclusively told Us Weekly at TheWrap Power Women Summit 2025 on Tuesday, December 2. “I’ll see people in television news, and they’ll say to me, ‘I can’t watch it. I get triggered,’ and I’m like, ‘Is it that good? Is it that truthful?’ It really is. So for a lot of people, I think they feel that way. So it’s good.”

Pittman, 49, also said that it’s “such a privilege” to be on the show, which concluded its fourth season on November 19.

“To be telling a story that we do tell to chronicle how women are dealing with being in a corporate America [is a privilege.] Being on television, [in the] television industry, [on] television news. I think it’s a fascinating portrait of where we are right now,” she continued. “And it’s something as an actor that I’m very interested in. Who are we as women now? What are we doing inherently, because I’m a Black woman, I’m telling the story of what it is to be a Black woman seeking power, seeking to make a difference, seeking to make change. And I love how the writers are exploring it, expanding the character and [Mia’s] story.”

The Morning Show season 4 saw Mia quit UBN after losing the Head of News position to Ben (William Jackson Harper). However, she later returned and may play a larger role at the network in the wake of Celine Dumont’s (Marion Cotillard) departure. Mia and Ben will both be in Paris for the Olympics, and they have a dinner date planned while they’re abroad, hinting at a potential future romance.

“What I want is whatever [showrunner] Charlotte Stoudt wants, whatever the writers wants, she’s got an incredible writers’ room already put together,” Pittman said of season 5, which has already been renewed. “I’m excited about it.”

The Forever actress teased that filming might start “next year.”

“[Stoudt is] the genius. She’s got all the ideas. I don’t. I mean, I have a couple. They’re not any good, trust me,” Pittman joked. “Charlotte’s got all the good ideas, so we’ll wait for her to tell us what we’re going to do, but I know that they’re scheming and planning right now.”

Pittman also told Us that, much like the show’s fans, she’s excited to see where Mia’s story goes in season 5.

The Morning Show raised the stakes ahead of the season 4 finale by having Bradley involved in a major betrayal. During the Wednesday, October 29, episode of the hit Apple TV+ series, Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) turned Claire (Bel Powley) in before she was able to go on TMS with Yanko’s (Néstor Carbonell) help. Bradley called […]

“[Mia is a character] who actually says who she is and walks a walk, talks and talk, you know what I mean?” she said, adding that she has “been surprised” to see how viewers have “connected” to Mia.

“I just sort of think of her as a character [who is] nose to the grindstone and supporting. But people seem to really enjoy and love her journey and have really enjoyed seeing her journey open up this season into something a little bit more provocative and are interested in seeing what happens in season five,” Pittman continued. “And so therefore, so am I.”
