Everton approach Manchester City to sign Jack Grealish after Dewsbury-Hall unveiling

Everton have opened talks with Manchester City in a bid to bring Jack Grealish to Goodison Park, according to reports.

Negotiations are ongoing after Everton proposed a season-long loan for the England international.

While City are open to discussions, their preference remains a permanent transfer, although they haven’t completely dismissed the idea of a temporary move.

Grealish, signed by City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a British-record £100million fee, still has two years left on his current deal at the Etihad.

The 29-year-old has been made available for transfer this summer as part of a potential squad reshuffle under Pep Guardiola.

The winger was notably left out of the squad for the Club World Cup and informed that his playing time could be limited in the upcoming season.

Despite that, Grealish rejoined City’s first-team training last week and was involved in an open session at the City Football Academy on Tuesday.

Grealish played a crucial role in Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign in 2023.

However, over the last two seasons, he has found it increasingly difficult to secure consistent minutes.

In addition to missing out on the Club World Cup squad, he was also excluded from the matchday squad for City’s final Premier League fixture of last season against Fulham.

Everton are the first club to formally approach City with a concrete proposal, though other Premier League and European clubs have shown interest in the forward since the transfer window opened – including Tottenham.

    Dewsbury-Hall joins

Everton’s interest in Grealish comes despite the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea.

The Toffees have announced the Englishman on a five-year contract, paying up to £28m for the winger.

Dewsbury-Hall moved from Leicester to Chelsea in 2024, but has secured a swift exit amid the Blues’ huge spending spree.

Speaking for the first time as an Everton player, he said: “I’m honestly very excited, my family’s excited. There’s a real buzz about this. It feels right for me.

“So just that alone gives me the motivation and the extra determination to show everybody, to prove a point and have a really successful time here.”
