Manchester United completed their pre-season schedule ahead of the new Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina.

Before kick-off, United supporters were treated to the unveiling of Benjamin Sesko, who joined on Saturday morning, alongside Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo. There was also a warm welcome at Old Trafford for former United goalkeeper David de Gea, now on Fiorentina’s books.

The Red Devils looking to deliver a statement performance in front of a packed Old Trafford, but found themselves matched blow-for-blow by Serie A side Fiorentina in an entertaining first half.

Fiorentina struck first inside the opening 10 minutes. A poorly defended corner saw Simon Sohm left completely unmarked as he pounced with a crisp volley to put La Viola in front.

The hosts hit back midway through the half thanks to some set-piece chaos of their own. Bruno Fernandes swung in a dangerous corner, and in the ensuing scramble Robin Gosens diverted the ball into his own net to level the scores at 1-1.

United enjoyed the better of the attacking pressure from then on in the first half, with academy talent Ayden Heaven going close with a header and new signing Bryan Mbeumo troubling the visitors from wide areas.

Fiorentina started the second half on top, with Simon Sohm rattling the crossbar and United’s defence under pressure.

United responded through long-range efforts from Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes, but clear chances were scarce.
